Irina Kaldewey was captivated by the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) upon her first visit, drawn to its beautiful old building and garden. It felt like the right place, and she applied, finding that everything fell into place. Her initial tools included an analogue camera, drawing, and painting materials. At UdK, Irina Kaldewey honed her skills in analogue photography, further developed with the help of a friend studying photography. They developed color photos together in his lab, while her black and white photos were developed in the university lab.
